THE CLAN AT CELTIC HEART BORDER COLLIES
ABOUT US
For over 35 years, I have been devoted to the Border Collie—there has never been another breed for me but the working dog. My journey began in the early 1980s with Obedience and Agility, alongside equestrian sports, and later expanded into Herding and Conformation Showing in the early 2000s.
At Celtic Heart Border Collies, that lifelong passion continues through our dedication to breeding sound, quality performance dogs from proven ANKC-registered purebred Border Collies. Our dogs are bred to excel in Show Conformation, Herding, and a wide range of Sporting Activities, while maintaining the true temperament, instinct, and versatility that define this remarkable breed.
We are registered with the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) as a Breeder, Exhibitor, and Member of Dogs Queensland (#4100068471). I currently serve as the Secretary of the Working Dog Club of Queensland and am also an aspiring Conformation and Herding Judge with Dogs QLD. In addition, I am an Accredited Steward, Writer, and Orivet DNA Collection Agent.
OUR BREEDING PHILOSOPHY
At Celtic Heart, our vision is simple: quality over quantity. We breed a limited number of litters each year, allowing us to carefully plan each mating to produce well-balanced, healthy puppies with sound structure, temperament, and working ability.
Our focus is on preserving the integrity and versatility of the Border Collie through selective breeding. Puppies with the potential for Show Conformation or inclusion in our breeding program may be retained, while remaining puppies are generally sold on the Limited Register, unless prior arrangements have been made.
HEALTH & WELFARE
The health and wellbeing of our dogs is of utmost importance. All our breeding dogs are examined by Gonioscopy and DNA tested for CEA, NCL, TNS, MDR1 and Glaucoma and Hip/Elbow x-rayed and scored under the current ANKC recognised scheme.
A vital part of the breeding programme includes ensuring that all our dogs are actively involved in Herding – preserving the breeds natural instincts, intelligence and heritage.
OUR HERITAGE
Established in the early 2000s, the ‘Celtic Heart’ prefix reflects both the birthplace of the Border Collie—in the Scottish Borders and surrounding regions of England—and my own ancestral heritage. Our Logo and Kennel name draws inspiration from the Clan Campbell Ancient Tartan and the Clan Smith Crest, which features a Winged Burning Heart, symbolising passion, loyalty, and strength. Together, these elements embody the spirit of the Border Collie and the heart behind the “Celtic Heart” name and logo.
OUR COMMITMENT
At Celtic Heart Border Collies, we are dedicated to the continuous improvement, correctness, and preservation of this extraordinary breed for future generations to enjoy.
We love to stay in touch with our puppy families and always welcome updates on the puppy’s progress, no matter how long it's been since they left our Clan.
